Creating at the intersection of art, science, and craft, my practice involves the process of experimenting with fungal organisms, traditional crafting and indigenous Filipino knowledge. Researching the connections between environmental and social justice, much of my work is rooted in a foundation of data in these fields to produce alternate visual narratives. Growing up in the United States, I didn’t experience generational knowledge of craft traditions in my culture and perceived laboratories as spaces for people with privileged positions in STEM fields. This shaped my interdisciplinary practice by utilizing craft mediums and laboratory spaces in my work. Collaborating with mycelium - the root of a mushroom, allows for my sculptural works to become ephemeral.
