Untitled (Genocide and Settler Colonialism)

Untitled addresses the genocide happening in Palestine. While Israel's occupation has been happening for more than half a century, this installation utilizes the data published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and Al Jazeera since October 7, 2023. 200 days later, an estimated 38,621 Palestinians have been killed and more than 8,000 have been missing. Every seed bead symbolizes two lives; red beads representing the ones that were killed and clear beads represent the missing. Because each seed bead represents two lives, there are about 19,311 red beads and 4,000 clear beads. Olive branches have a universal symbol of peace and are important to Palestinian culture with ties to their land. The occupation of the Gaza Strip bleeds into the environment negatively impacting the landscape, making it unrecognizable.
